Touken's History
The Kasato-Maru ship took the first 781 Japanese emigrants to Brazil.
50 days on board and having traveled almost 12,000 nautical miles, Heichiro Tanaka and Kazue Tanaka arrived in Brazil with the purpose of building a new life and a large family.
From 1990 to 2000, Satie, Heichiro and Kazue Tanaka’s granddaughter, changed directions and moved to Osaka (Japan) to learn more about Japanese culture, customs and cuisine.
When she returned to Brazil, she was hired to work at JAL (Japan’s largest airline company), making her frequent visits to Japan.
In 2014, when she moved to Orlando with her family, she identified the need for modern and creative Japanese cuisine in the city.
Together with her husband, she founded Touken Sushi.
