Touken's History

The Kasato-Maru ship took the first 781 Japanese emigrants to Brazil. 50 days on board and having traveled almost 12,000 nautical miles, Heichiro Tanaka and Kazue Tanaka arrived in Brazil with the purpose of building a new life and a large family. From 1990 to 2000, Satie, Heichiro and Kazue Tanaka’s granddaughter, changed directions and moved to Osaka (Japan) to learn more about Japanese culture, customs and cuisine.
